Luxury hotel for Tottori Sand Dunes – JAPAN PROPERTY CENTRAL K.K.

In 2026, Marriott International will open a The Luxury Collection-branded hotel near the Tottori Sand Dunes alongside the Sea of Japan.

The 108-room hotel will be built on a 18,260 sqm site just west of the dunes, with two 4-story buildings and a rooftop bath and pool. Nightly room rates are expected to exceed 60,000 Yen.

The site is currently owned by an Osaka-based developer, but was previously owned by Tottori City. In 2019, the city sold the land via a public bidding process selecting the current owner because their proposal had indicated a plan to attract an internationally-branded luxury hotel. The total project cost is estimated to be the range of 15 billion Yen (approx. US$99 million).

This part of Tottori is visited by over 1.6 million tourists each year, yet hotel options remain scarce.
