I was trying to describe Helldivers 2 to a family member yesterday and I think describing it as a game where you just “endlessly mow down hordes of enemies and blow stuff up in the name of freedom” is a pretty good way to describe it. It’s not uncommon to extract back to your ship, look at your stats for the mission, and see you’ve killed anywhere from 200-300+ Automatons and Terminids, especially once you start playing at any difficulty above level 4. Even with a couple of deaths, your K/D ratio would still be really high, which allows us to continue to win the Galactic War.

While jumping into Helldivers 2 to choose the next planet that I’m going to bring democracy to, I glanced over at the stats on the left side of the screen, and I had to double check I was reading the commas correctly because the figures show that the Automatons and Terminids are catching up to us and becoming more of a threat to the galaxy than we initially thought. However, the numbers just didn’t add up to me so I decided to check every sector of the galaxy to see what the true figure is. And I am happy to report that we are effectively serving Liber-tea.

At the time of writing, in Helldivers 2 players have killed 8,233,575,028 Automatons and 10,112,004,210 Terminids for a combined kill count of 18,345,579,238 total enemies, that is a lot of Liber-tea being served across the galaxy. But, democracy doesn’t come without losing some Helldivers along the way, with the Automatons killing 535,967,537 players and the Terminids killing 569,873,015, meaning that there has been a total of 1,105,840,552 player deaths so far in the fight for freedom. Now time for the nerdy math stuff.

Our K/D ratio against the Automatons currently stands at 15.362, while our K/D ratio against the Terminids is 17.774, with a collective K/D ratio of 16.59, which is a lot of democracy being served. But, General Brasch taught us better and I know we can get these numbers even higher as we push back against the Automaton and Terminid forces. Currently, the Terminids have become resistant to Termicide, and reproduction rates have exploded, and we can’t be having that. So, the Helldivers must go to the barrier planets and exterminate every Terminid we encounter to bring those numbers back to a manageable level. We also need to ensure we have a grip on this endless war before more enemies show up and threaten the galaxy, such as the highly anticipated Illuminate.

To start getting these rookie numbers up, it could be time to look at your loadout and figure out where you’re going wrong.
