It is hard to believe that Helldivers 2 is approaching just three months since it was released, it feels like we’ve been at war with the Automatons and Terminids for many years now. With the game still being so new, Arrowhead Game Studios is regularly making changes to the game to improve the experience for players and add essential quality of life improvements.

Unfortunately, the developers don’t always get this right, but in this instance they have added a highly requested change to a controversial mechanic which could prevent a lot of frustration and even save some Helldivers’ lives.

The recently released 01.000.300 update finally addressed this issue, with the patch notes saying,

“Added setting in the options menu gameplay section to disable automatic climbing and vaulting while sprinting.”

By turning this on you will no longer randomly climb up ledges or on top of objects on the map. This has both pros and cons because, on the one hand, you won’t climb on top of Resupply pods, but on the flip side you also will have to manually climb up ledges.

I do think the easier option would have been to just make Resupply pods unclimbable as this seems to be the main issue players were experiencing, and also add this setting for those that want it. I never notice climbing issues except the pods so this will be a setting that I leave off.

Climbing on top of Resupply pods can be annoying, but sometimes it happens as you grab more ammo for your weapons. And it is important to make sure you’re carrying the right weapons for the mission at hand. To ensure this, we highly recommend checking out our Helldivers 2 best weapons guide and best armor guide so you and your squad can effectively take out the Automatons and Terminids.
