flynas, the world’s leading low-cost carrier and the Middle East’s top LCC, will launch direct flights between Riyadh and Damascus starting June 5, 2025.
This move adds the Syrian capital to its growing network, supporting the airline’s regional expansion strategy.
The new route aims to meet travelers’ needs, boosting air connectivity between Saudi Arabia and neighboring countries. The initiative aligns with the Kingdom’s national aviation goals.
Addition of Damascus to Regional Network
The addition of Damascus to flynas’ network is a key part of its ambitious growth plan. This is titled “We Connect the World to the Kingdom.”
This initiative supports Saudi Arabia’s National Civil Aviation Strategy. This seeks to enable national carriers to connect the Kingdom to 250 international destinations. It aims to accommodate 330 million passengers, and welcome 150 million tourists annually by 2030.
The flights also align with the Pilgrims Experience Program (PEP), which focuses on improving access to the Two Holy Mosques for pilgrims.
Bander Almohanna, flynas’ CEO and Managing Director, expressed satisfaction about resuming flights to Syria. “flynas has a proud history of connecting Saudi Arabia with Syrian cities like Damascus, Aleppo, and Latakia,” he said.
“This relaunch strengthens ties between our two nations and reaffirms our commitment to enhancing regional connectivity.” The airline previously operated direct flights from Riyadh and Jeddah to these Syrian cities, showcasing its pioneering role in the region.
Kingdom’s Vision 2030
Saudi Arabia’s aviation sector is thriving, driven by the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and ambitious plans to become a global aviation hub. While flynas is a leading low-cost carrier, several other airlines contribute to the country’s dynamic air travel network.
Saudi Arabia’s airlines align with the National Civil Aviation Strategy, aiming to connect 250 destinations and accommodate 330 million passengers by 2030. Saudia and flynas dominate domestic and regional markets, while Riyadh Air targets global expansion.

flynas currently serves over 70 domestic and international destinations across 30 countries, operating 139 routes with more than 2,000 weekly flights.
Since its inception in 2007, the airline has carried over 80 million passengers. Looking ahead, flynas aims to expand to 165 destinations, aligning with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals to boost tourism and global connectivity.
This new Riyadh-Damascus route underscores flynas’ dedication to providing affordable, convenient travel options while supporting the Kingdom’s broader aviation and tourism objectives. As flynas continues to grow, it remains a key player in connecting Saudi Arabia to the world.
