Earlier this week, a Bonza Boeing 737 MAX landed in Sunshine Coast with fumes in the cockpit.
More information has been revealed following this incident.

Bonza Flight AB570 – Melbourne Avalon to Sunshine Coast…
Bonza flight AB570, which suffered fumes onboard, is a routine scheduled flight between Melbourne Avalon and the Sunshine Coast.
The aircraft involved in this incident was VH-UJK.
As per data from Planespotters.net, VH-UJK is a 4.9 year old Boeing 737 MAX 8 that was originally destined for LOT Polish Airlines.
However, in December 2022, Bonza took delivery of the aircraft where it has been since.
Of the 737 MAX 8 variant, the Australian carrier has four in the fleet currently.
Furthermore, all four are in active service, with the average fleet age sitting at 4.8 years.
Bonza flight AB570 departed Melbourne Avalon at 1421 local time on April 23 and headed to Sunshine Coast.
As per The Aviation Herald, it is understood that the crew donned their oxygen masks during their approach.
This was due to the presence of an abnormal odour in the cockpit.
From there, the aircraft made a safe landing into Sunshine Coast without further incident.
As a precaution, the pilots were sent to hospital for checks, and were released with no issues.
Aircraft Grounded Overnight…
Data from RadarBox shows that VH-UJK, the Bonza 737 MAX involved with the fumes in the cockpit, remained grounded overnight.
The aircraft was fixed and returned to commercial service on April 24 following a successful test flight.
From there, it has operated flights to the likes of:
- Cairns
- Albury
- Melbourne Victoria.
It can be assumed that there are no further issues with the aircraft now following this incident.
