Bird Flu warning: Expert says roadmap to human infection can lead to nightmare scenario | US | News

The roadmap to human infection of bird flu could pose a potential future nightmare scenario, an expert has warned, as colleagues say it could be the next pandemic “100 times worse than Covid”.

Millions of birds, along with other species of animals including dogs and cats, have died from the virus over the past two decades.

Humans do not have immunity from avian influenza (bird flu) – which means it could potentially spread quickly.

Symptoms can include fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, body aches, headaches and fatigue

While the CDC chiefs reassured the recent spillover from birds to cows is not showing significant genetic changes that could indicate the infection spreading to humans, Dr. Marc Siegel highlighted one major scenario that could exacerbate concern.
