Reports are coming in that an Alaska Air Fuel Douglas DC-4 has crashed to the southwest of Fairbanks International Airport.

Overall, information is limited regarding this incident, but here is what we know so far.

N3054V is the Alaska Air Fuel Douglas DC-4 supposedly involved in the crash in Fairbanks.

As per Aerial Visuals, the aircraft was built in 1942, and operated by the United States Army Air Force.

Furthermore, this makes the aircraft 82 years old at the time of this accident.

As per CBS News, it is understood that the aircraft was carrying two people when the crash happened.

Furthermore, multiple agencies have told people to avoid the area, whilst the crash site is being contained.

The site is understood to be 15 miles southwest of the Fairbanks International Airport in Alaska.

Also, it is currently unclear what the condition of the two people onboard the aircraft are.

Furthermore, the circumstances surrounding this crash are unknown, with more information to follow.

Furthermore, here is the full statement from the Alaska State Troopers on the crash:

“At 10:03 AM on April 23, 2024, Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks received reports of an aircraft crash around seven miles south of the Fairbanks International Airport on the Tanana River.”

“A preliminary investigation revealed that a Douglas DC-4 crashed into the Tanana River after taking off from Fairbanks International Airport at 9:55 am with two people on board.”

“The aircraft slid into a steep hill on the bank of the river where it caught fire. No survivors have been located.”

“The NTSB is responding to conduct an investigation into the cause of the crash.”

“The Alaska State Troopers, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, DPS HELO 2, University of Alaska Police, Fairbanks Airport Police and Fire, Fairbanks Police Department, Esther Volunteer Fire Department, Chena Goldstream Volunteer Fire Department, and RCC responded to the scene.”
