Flair Airlines CEO Stephen Jones Set to Retire

Flair Airlines, Canada’s ultra-low-cost carrier (ULCC), announces the retirement of its President and CEO, Stephen Jones, this summer.

Jones’ departure marks the end of a successful four-year tenure that saw exponential growth for Flair.

Seasoned Leader Steps Down

Jones, a seasoned aviation industry veteran with a remarkable 30-year career, played a pivotal role in Flair’s expansion and solidified the company’s position within the Canadian ULCC landscape.

The Board of Directors extends its deepest gratitude to Jones for his tireless dedication to growing Flair and making travel more accessible for Canadians.

To ensure a smooth leadership transition, Flair has already initiated a comprehensive recruitment process to select Jones’ permanent replacement.

In the interim, industry expert and Flair’s current COO, Maciej Wilk, will assume the role of Interim President and CEO.

Wilk’s extensive operational, business, and financial expertise make him the ideal candidate to guide Flair during this period.

Operations will continue uninterrupted throughout the leadership transition.

Wilk Assumes Interim Leadership Role

Flair will now move into a selection and recruitment process for the leading role, with COO Maciej Wilk taking the helm in the meantime.

Wilk’s deep understanding of Flair’s operations makes him perfectly suited to lead the company forward, albeit in the interim period.

He is already involved in all areas of the airline business and possessives extensive operational, business and financial expertise.

Sister Connection: Flair and Bonza

News of the step down of CEO Stephen Jones comes in the wake of news of the suspension of operations for Australian sister airline Bonza.

The Australian budget carrier is currently in a hiatus period after it was granted a two-month extension period by administrators to secure a buyer.

Bonza has cancelled all flights until June 12, 2024 at this stage. It is presently looking to secure and negotiate with interested parties.

Flair has indicated that it remains committed to offering Canadians an accessible and convenient alternative to larger airlines. The airline continues to operate as the sole ultra-low cost carrier in Canada.
